Belgium closed its FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 campaign on a winning note, defeating India 4-3 in a dramatic shootout after a thrilling 3-3 draw in regulation time at the Belfius Hockey Arena in Wavre.

The Red Lions fought back from an early deficit thanks to goals from Roman Duvekot, Hugo Labouchere and Nicolas de Kerpel, but India forced a shootout with a late equaliser from captain Harmanpreet Singh.

In the shootout, experienced goalkeeper Vincent Vanasch proved decisive, making crucial saves before Duvekot converted the winning attempt to secure seventh place for Belgium in front of the home crowd.
